Default Texture Flickering

Sorry im not around much, I just got even busier, although I do check up once in a while.
Ok, well i've got another problem this time involving my own pc and video card.

Let me say that this started happening maybe about 2 months ago. Whats happening is im getting a lot of texture flickering, screen freezing, games crashing, and blank screens while playing games.

My specs are under my username. Its a 7800GT, I reinstalled Geforce Drivers, and DX9 drivers. My videocard is at 40 degrees when idle and gets as hot as 60-70 degrees while playing games. Im suspecting a overheating problem but I want some advice. Especially one what kind of new heatsink I should get.

EDIT: Driver Version, 169.21

Hmm.. 60-70 degrees is the normal operating temperature of a video card under load, some go as high as 80, and the 8800GTXs go as high as 100-110.

Have you tried lowering your graphical settings to see if it removes the filtering/freezing? Also, what temperature does your CPU (not video card) run at?
Have you tried contacting nVidia or whichever company (BFG, eVGA, PNY,..) branded the card?

Actually after searching the EVGA forums for about half an hour I found that the Factory OCed GFX cards memory starts to die. So, I decided to see if it works fine when Underclocked. And it worked. So the memory is going bad.

EVGA has the lifetime warranty allowing me to send it back. But im not going to send it back as of yet until it starts to get worse. I was being so annoyed by it I thought it was just the HL2 maps. But I noticed it happend in other games so I decided to check up on it.

Btw, nice specs, im planning on upgrading my PC soon and going to get a C2D and OC it along with a 8800GTX.

Yea that'd do it

See if they'll let you trade it in for a faster performing card and pay the difference. Though I wouldn't get an 8800GTX just yet, the entire 9XXX line is about to be unveiled, and will certainly make price drops in all the other nVidia cards

And thanks, I cracked my chip the first time I overclocked, had to buy a new one because I voided the warranty somehow.. Apparently they don't take the fact a cooler got screwed on too tight as covered by warranty..
