Default installing video card

Hey guys, i want to ask about installing a new card in this pc!.

Ive taken a GFX Card out of an old pc, and want to put it into this PC as this PC's drivers just dont work and i cant play any games.

The card says its a GV-R9200NF [REV: 1.0] card (thats wut it says on the card, i cant dxdiag>Drivers as i hvnt got a working PC to check the card on).

And i want to put it into this PC, i know how to do the hardware, and i ve tryed before, but then the PC wouldnt turn on AT ALL!.

I took it out and it ran fine again, so theres obviously something wrong.

Any ideas?

This pc is a 2.06 GHz Windows XP.

And it also has no grpahics card to remove, the graphics card slot is empty atm, i believe this PC came with on-board driver graphics, that no longer work.

If you have display on that PC currently-- without the card-- then the "onboard graphics" must be working.
From the code on that video-card-- it appears to be a Radeon 9200 series-- an AGP card... what do you have now ?

here's a link to the ATI support page-- you could download drivers fom here:\
Catalyst™ 6.11 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition
When you tried the card-- did you swap the connector for your monitor from the one it is in now to the card's connector ? The card will have it's own connections.
With onboard graphics-- you often have to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard for the PC to "see" the new hardware (graphics card)?

Yes your right, i remember it is a radeon 9200 card now.

Thnx for the help, could you perhaps give me a guide on how to disable the on board and switch to using this card, as im not very advanced with that type of thing, thank you ?

Ive downloaded that ATI link, and ive used that before on a different PC, and i think its the right drivier i need for this card that i have got, however, obviously it wont update my ATI driver as the card isnt in the PC.

However wen i try and run the PC with the card inside it, it just doesnt boot up, i plug the cable from the monitor into the cards connection, and the default connection on the back of the pc, (ive tryed both) and niether run the PC.

Again, im not very good at this type of thing, i know how to put the card in the PC, how to go to safe mode, thats about it ^_^.

Thnx in advance for any help

There's a tutorial on how to enter the BIOS here:

http://www.pchelpforum.com/hardware-...ntry-keys.html

Please note-- the mouse does not function in the BIOS... you must use the arrow keys and the enter button to move around. Press backspace to go back and ESC to go back to the previous page.
There are many different menus-- it varies from PC to PC.
What you need to look for is the "video adapter" --highlight it and click disable.
With the Radeon installed... reboot-- Windows should detect it and load a very basic, built-in driver so you have a screen display. Then you can install the downloaded ATI drivers from the deskttop..

Here is a screenshot of a BIOS screen-- yours may look slightly different-- this is just for an example:
