Default Some major graphics problems

Okay, I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks now, and its getting progressively worse so I decided to try and actually do something to fix it.

Basically, I'm getting a load of weird artifacts on my screen whenever I visit pages, even during the boot sequence they appear, and also when I'm typing it flickers around the text on the line before.

It especially happens whenever I scroll, or any kind of on-screen movement appears. I'm guessing its something to do with my monitor or graphics card. Any help as to this would be much appreciated, picture included at bottom.

And for the record, these are my specs:

Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.7GHz
Memory: 512MB RAM
Video: 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6200
Monitor: Plug & Play

If any more information is needed, don't hesitate to ask, here is a picture:

PS: Forgot to add another sympton...every couple of minutes, the screen goes black for about two or three seconds, then picture comes back...sometimes the montor error comes up saying it is not connected, thanks again.

I'm not an expert but it sounds like the graphics card, do you have another you could try?
If it were your monitor then your screenshot would look perfectly normal to us.
I had a bad gfx card, it was only 16mb but I don't do gaming or anything so it was no biggie, when it went bad my text on start up was all garbled and such so they do mess with you...tricky little buggers...

I only purchased the 6200 around a month ago brand new, so I'm hoping its nothing with that. I have an old NVIDIA GeForce MX 440 I could try, and get straight back to you.

Really sorry, I couldn't figure out how to edit my last post...if anyone could enlighten me it would be appreciated .

Anyways, I put back in my old NVIDIA MX 440, and it seems to be working fine. However, I have no idea what is wrong with my other card, is it simply faulty? I've only had it for a couple of months maximum, and i have absolutely NO idea why it would do this. Thanks again.

Maybe you just got a bad card or maybe it's a system compatibility issue, either way I'd look into getting a refund/replacement

Hi I'm 99% sure faulty card it is common for them to fail in this way. or possible1% faulty socket. Not a driver issue that is for sure.
