Unhappy Video killed my little pc.

Okay he we go. I built a pc a while back and it worked great, it had a ati radeon 9600 pro (agp x8) which worked ok but it put out artifacts. I upgraded to a ati radeon hd2400 pro and after having a few issues getting it to run properly I fixed it...and it was great, gaming quality quadroopeled, I got a whole new experience with the lighting and rendering. Well one day I came home and my pc was on but it would not display anything I turned it off and removed the 2400 and tested onboard graphics..it worked. I put the 2400 back in....it worked, dont know what the deal was but I decided to take advantage of my 30 day return policy at Fry's and get a new one seeing as how I had 10 days left on the policy, I got there and there were no 2400's, but the was a HD2600 Pro for an additional 20 bucks......awesome..an upgrade. Well, I put it in and nothing so I went back to on-board and installed the driver via itnternet...nothing, I remebered that I had to go in and chage something in the bios before because the on board gfx was running through the 2400, after that the 2400 displayed as it should, so when I went back to bios to change that option to the way it was so I could atleast get everything set-up with the 2600 installed, but I could not remeber which option it was so I loaded the fail-safe defaults, my pc ran funny and then asked me if I i wanted to boot from a safe mode option or normal windows, i selected normal....and it froze..twice. I remebered my friend saying that the little 3 volt battery on the mother board was what kept the latest bios installed so I figure if I took it out it would my pc would revert back to the olden days and I could start fresh so my jolly little **** pulled out the battery and put it back. When it came time to power on, the pc ran but there were no gfx through the intergrated (which until now always worked) so I have no idea what I did to my little pc.

I feel like an idiot..

Thanks so much for reading this if you could give any advice or consolation that would be great. I really appreciate it.

I might take it to geek squad to try to get it fixed.

P4 2.8 Ghz
2 gb DDR400 ram
Ati radeon HD2600 Pro Agp (not working)
Supermicro P4SCT+II motherboard

Hey there mate, reset the CMOS again by removing the battery and unplugging the PC and leaving for 5 mins then replace it and try the graphics card in the AGP slot and see what happens.

Avoid geeksquad if you can, there are a lot of dodgy things happening with them, over charging, pushing upgrades, keeping customers personal data, take it to a local store if we can't get anything resolved.

Ok, yeah I was lookin at prices for Geek Squad and....****. I work at NASA and one of the techs said that removing the battery for about 5 min would completely reset the motherboard due to capacitors it would hold a residual charge, I only took it out and put it right back in. So I will try that and get back to you. Thanks alot!

Yeah, you have to live it for a couple of mins unplugged, there's usually a cmos reset jumper if it'd be easier to use that?
