Default Graphics Card Fan

Hi,
I would play Team Fortress 2 and then suddenly, the game would freeze and crash, with the sound looping. At first I thought it was something to do with online play, but I dismissed this when I played Battlefield 2 offline and it did the same thing.

As it turned out, the motor for the fan on the graphics card had been completely shot- it wouldn't turn, thus overheating the graphics card.

My question is, is it possible to get a replacement fan for a graphics card? Also, my graphics card is an NVidia GeForce 5700 (quite old I know), so would I be better off getting a newer card.

EDIT: if fan replacements are possible, where are they obtainable?

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum

No real need to swap out the card...unless you believe it was damaged during the high temps. As for cooling it, something like this would be both efficient and quiet: Quietpc.co.nz Silent Video Card and Motherboard Heatsinks

Sure, there are much better cards available nowadays so it may be worthwhile deciding if it it's worth buying the cooling OR stumping up for a completely new card
