Default Is the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS my prob.

I recently purchased a DELL Inspiron 1720,,The resolution on the monitor is not near as good as my old Pressario. One reason for buying the 1720 was for the bigger screen.

On webpages like ebay the black lettering looks like the old Dot-matrix printing in LOW resalution. On other webpages look like a pic taken with a 1 pixel camera. High quality pics look fine, Being a NON-techie i haven't changed any settings from the NVIDIA control panel.

Is the low quality something that can be adjusted or do I have a prob with the NVIDiA GeForce 8400M GS card?
I will list the settings i see in the N-control panel
screen res. 1410 X 900
refresh 60 Hz
Color Quality High(32bit)
Image setting High performance
Antialiasing setting 4X (? no clue what this big word does
Anistropil filter 2X ( ? another one
Color Setting Empty
My computer specs are DELL Inspiron 1720,Intel Core 2 DUO, T5250 @1.50GHz, 150 GHz, 2.50 GB RAM
AM i looking in the right place or what?? Appreciate the PC forums and hope some of ya can give this "point & clicker" some help.....Thanks Slim

Hi just looking at screen res. 1410 X 900 what size is the screen you have attached? Try addjusting it to 1280 X 1024 and set it to 32 bit color. If you tell me what windows is on the PC I can guide you on how to do.

Thanks for your help Matt, i am trying the driver download now,the inspiron 1720 is a laptop will this make a difference from a PC? Looking around for more info for you I also see that under "system">,general> it gives my info and XP registration number..then it reads manufactured and supported by : DELL inspiron l1520..is this just a typo since I am running a 1720? probably doesn't have any effect on the actual driver or anything with the workings inside I am hoping. Have a great Day...Slim
download didn't go thru..took about 20 mins to download on my connection,,I clicked run and all was well, then I got a message no drivers could be located in my system,,i pushed ok and everything dissappered!

If you go in to the device manager under display adapter it will say what card it is just to confirm we are getting the right driver. It dosen't matter who the laptop was made by it is better to get the driver from the graphics manufacturer
