Default [Answered] intel 82945g express family chipset problems

i have a compaq sr5109uk desktop with a new foxconn 945g7md-8ekrs2h motherboard that i installed, i have tried to play empire earth 3 on my pc but all i get is loads of lines all over the screen, i have a intel pentium dual core CPU E2140 @1.60mhz, Intel 82945G expess family chipset, 2gig ram. Could anyone please tell me if there is something wrong or is this normal.

Hey there and welcome to PCHF,

Your computer doesn't have a very powerful video processor, in fact, it's extremely weak, and explains why you're unable to play games (such as Empire Earth 3) on it.

Your motherboard has a PCIex16 slot, so you can easily pick up a PCIex16 card, I would recommend either a 7800GT, 7900GS/GT, or a 8600GT

excellent, i was getting a bit worried about my pc,could you tell me would the 8600gt be the best or is this obvious and me just being thick (new to computers) also where is the cheapest place to get one.

Actually, in my opinon, from personal experience, the best deal on graphics cards is the ATi Radeon HD 3850. $170 for a card that absolutely destroys the Geforce 8600GT
