I have been bought a pc with the specification beneath. The graphics card isnt too great and am considering upgrading it to a nvidia 8 family card. How do I know if my pc is good enough to use it??

Couple of questions that will help others to help you with this.

Did the PC come with Vista and other software preinstalled. ?
Who is the manufacturer ?

The reason I ask is that if you have what is considered an OEM installation you may need to go back to the manufacturers site or to the point of sale.

Reason: any change may invalidate your existing warranty.
Please check the details before you proceed.

Do I assume that this conundrum is unanswerable?

Could we please have your computers brand and serial number.And depending on how your question is meant if you mean you want to know if your pc will bottleneck your card it shouldnt.
