Default [Answered] DVI to HDMI borders

Hi

I have a radeon X1950XT and until recently had a VGA lead running to my HDTV(LG 32LC56) to use as a second Monitor.
I just purchased a DVI to HDMI cable to use instead of the vga and now have a small black border running around the outskirts of the screen.

after doing a bit of looking into this i have read something about overscan but i am not quite sure about it,

anyone know how to get rid of this.

Hello Bag,

The only things I would know to try would be to look for a "stretch" aspect setting in your TV settings. Or to change your windows resolutions until it fits your TV. Other than that, I haven't been able to find anything to fix that problem on my projection TV.

I have an LCD TV that works fine with my desktop. When I try it on my much larger projection TV, I can't get the whole outside. I have tried everything I can think of.

Hope that helps!

thanks for the tips, i tried several new resolutions until i found one that works, 1360x768 worked but that was the same resolution that VGA gave me,
i thought 1920x1080 @60hz was 1080P
i had to select a resolution of 1920x1440 and that was perfect.

If you left the HDTV plugged in as a secondary monitor, then I would imagine when you turn it on it is just your video card resetting itself while setting up the secondary monitor. Doubt it is anything to worry about...unless it keeps flickering randomly.
