Default 8800 ultra vs 8600gts size

I am looking to upgrade from an MSI 8600gts which has the larger heat sink and fan on it and going to a BFG 8800 ULTRA. I am cool on the space that the fan/heat sink takes up I have the space for that, but how much of a difference is there in length and width? I am in a small HTPC case so length and how much it will stick up from the board is crucial. If they are the same over all dimensions then I will be golden! I doubt it but just had to ask. Thanks

Joe

The 8800 ULTRA as far as I know is the same size as the 8800GTX which is 10.5inches (about 3 inches more than the 8600gts) in length, you will probably have problems getting it in a small case (I know my friend had to hack away at his hard drive bays to get the 8800GTX in and that was in a normal case)

Yeah, the best thing to do would probably be meassure up how much space you have in your case and have a look at the card manufacturers site for dimensions and see what you've got to play with.

HTPC cases can be a bit of a pain in the hole though, I remember putting one together in an Antec fusion for a friend, great cases, getting the cable management sorted was a pain though and the silverstone cases would look good with the stereo, price is a little eek though.

Good luck anyways ;-)
