Exclamation As i was looking..

Okay, This is a doozie,

I was bored earlier today, and found my old Nvidia 6200 GT laying around, As my computer already has a onboard card for Nvidia, I thought i'd give it a try, But as I looked in my computer, I do not have a slot for a video card, Now when I look in my brothers, There it is, That magic slot I need.. But why would my computer not even has one of those?

If this thread is in the wrong subject or something, Let me know.

Ill move it myself, Don't mind me, im new to a PC Help Forum ^^

Edit:
Also, I tried to put in a ATI card, Doesnt Fit either,
If needed, I can supply a picture of the slot, Just let me know.

Hey there,

What motherboard do you have? Pick a tool from here to find out if you need to: http://www.pchelpforum.com/your-pc-d...stem-spec.html

It's PCI-Express.

Depends on your mobo- If it's an "off-the-shelf" PC-- like an HP or Compaq etc., they often only put in exactly what is needed for that system-- and not one more thing. Keeps costs down for them... makes it so you cannot upgrade.
Then there is the (fairly) recent switch from VGA slot/interface cards
to PCI-express slot /interface cards.

For Video adapters the history goes:
1) Plain PCI cards
2) VGA--this was invented in 1987 ! There have been many versions of it since then... but demand for ever-faster graphics reached it's limits
3) PCI-Express... the current slot / interface... is almost 4 times the speed of VGA 8X-- which is why it's become so popular.

Faster CPU's/Faster RAM/Faster Video = faster pc's overall-- which is what the gamers are always after-- they drive the industry-- because they spend the most money on gear.

That syspec is not quite detailed enough
I want to be sure before I make any recommendations...
could you download run System info utility from the link in my sig below.
That mobo could be one of about 3--by the model #

Note: I only want
the motherboard make/model
and perhaps the chipset and BIOS for confirmation.
