Default FPS problems>?

Hi so im new to this forum and it was given to me from a friend in a Counterstrike Source community. (Don't know if you guys allow advertising but its Noob Galore » Gaming Evolved and its one of the biggest cs:s communities out there and its growing to other games like TF2.)

Anyways a few days ago my computer got reformatted due to some virus and hardware and also old operating system (Was using a mix of 2000 and xp and we decided to just make it xp finally) Ever since it was reformatted i can go into a cs:s server and get my usual 60-110 fps (My graphic card is a Nvidia Geforce 6200LE so this is good regular fps for me) After about 10 minutes or so in the server my fps would drop to 9-10 and would not go back up. Sometimes it could push the 20's but no further. At first i thought it was because of the choke which i was getting from 20-50 which i didnt used to get before the reformatting but then i was told how to fix that and so i did. Im still getting these fps issues though where it would drop to around 10 and stay there.. I dont know whats the problem because my fps in TF2 is from 30-50 at its regular and it doesnt change there. Any thoughts or ideas?

Hi,

My first thought would be heat. Can you check to see that your VGA card cooler is spinning properly and free from all dust and obstructions.

Howdy B-Man and welcome to PCHF,

Before you reinstalled and fully upgraded to XP did you play the game mostly in 2k or Xp?
I do not think heat is an issue as it was not before but you never know.
Have you downloaded the latest drivers for yor card?

Also considering your not the only person whos mentioned the "heat" problem il open up my comp tomorow morning and dust it and see what thatl do but otherwise my computer isnt hot at all. Half a year ago or so my comp did overheat because it was being held in this small cabinet/compartment and ever since after we fixed it were keeping it on the floor now. Is that still a problem because it hasnt been..
