Default pci will it fit in a pci express slot?

hi there
just gone and bought a asus 256mb ageia physics card, it arrives in the next couple of days.
going to put it in my striker extreme mobo,
already has 2 8800 ultra's but am wondering if i'll be able to fit it in, as the pci slots are nearly all covered by the ultra's i do have a pci e slot spare but don't know if a pci card'll work in a pci e slot?
anyone know?

Hi born, You have 3 PCI-e slots (x16's)? I've yet to see a motherboard with any more than two Express x16's.

To answer your question, PCI and PCI-e are 100% completely, definately, wholeheartidly, without a doubt soooo uncompatible.

ah the slot not used for sli is an x8 pci e slot.

Oh, now I'm really confused. I've just checked that motherboard (somthing I should have done in the beginning), I can see, you really do have 3 PCI-e x16's, 2 standard PCI slots, and a PCI-e x1.

I can see what your trying to get at. The 3rd card if used for Phsyics rendering can be different in terms of model to the rest of the cards, so if your motherboard is the same as the one I'm looking at then you shouldn't have any problems. Have seen this working in theory, but never in practical application.

umm.. to be honest i was just checking to see if a pci card would fit into as it turns out a x8 pci express slot.
the striker has 2x 16 lane pci express and 1 x8 pci express.
have bought a pci graphics card and it may be able to squeeze above my 2nd card.
and just checking again that its definately incompatible with a pci express x8 slot? (cos there's room for a card in that position)
