Question [Answered] max allowable temperatures for VRAM

my BFG Geforce 6600GT OC (512MB) has 512MB of Infineon GDDR2 modules, stock clocked at 266mhz (533mhz effective) i have so far raised it to 500mhz core (stock 425) with temperatures <47C, and the memory to 297mhz (594mhz effective) so far i havent had any telltale signs of overheated memory, but it is very low bandwith memory, at only 128bits. the memory is the big bottleneck in my card. but i need to know about how hot i can expect it to run.

Default Re: max allowable temperatures for VRAM

Hello AW,

I know I will probably get nasty letters from the overclockers crowd but in my opinion I wouldn't go more than another 20C. You are running 116 degrees F now. Another 20 gives you 150F. You are knocking on the door of heat related slowdown now. As the temp rises the slower the RAM will go. I fear your temp will rise faster than your cycles applied.
