Question [Answered] Removing the 8800 GTS

Sorry if this is the wrong section. My GTS has just died and the company I bought my PC off are sending me a new one. The problem is I have to remove my dead one and I've no idea what to do

I cant seem to find any relative guides and badly need one. It gets worse by the way. When my new card gets delivered I have to put it in. If it wasn't the bank holiday I'd get a PC shop to do this for me.

Any help is much appreciated
Thanks

Hi there! All you really have to do is find the video card (it should be taking up 2 slots on the back of the computer and have a big fan on top of it) and find where the screws are holding the panels to the back of the computer. Take out the screws and pull the card directly up and it should come out of its slot. Remember which slot it came out of, if you can't tell the difference between them. All you have to do is set the new card into the slot the same way as the old one and push so that it's securely in, and then screw in the panels.

Easy as that? Do i need any special screwdrivers, static bands etc?

Thanks

A phillips-head screwdriver will do just fine for this.

An anti-static band is advisory to wear, but if you have anything anti-static in your house, touching that with one hand and the metal on the back of the case with the other should discharge your static buildup.
