Question Graphics tablet not working

Hey guys,

Have a problem with my graphics tablet and wondered if you could help. It's an Aiptek Hyperpen 6000 that connects to my serial (COM) port on my PC. I'm running Vista Home Premium, and my motherboard is model MS-7061.

The indicator on the touchpad is on, meaning that the device is powered correctly. My computer has identified the tablet device and has automatically installed it. However, there is no response using the pen or the mouse. I have a 'main' mouse that is connected via USB, although I don't think that's the problem, and my computer shows no conflicts. Is there any way of finding out whether my computer is to blame, or whether there's a fault with the actual tablet itself?

Thanks for your time. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.

It could be that the tablet ain't working cuz you still have the mouse connected? Do you?
Also, did you install drivers from internet or cd?

I've tried booting up with no mouse connected and it still doesn't work.

I tried using the driver on the CD, but it's very old. Vista seems to have found its own, and when I try to 'point' it to the driver on the CD it says that the one it already has is the best one available.

I've also tried installing the latest driver from the internet, but it still says the one that Vista found is the best possible one. If course, it gives you no option to manually change it.

I had a little look into it, and it seems that the COM port version needs to have a non-shared, reserved IRQ and I/O address, although unfortunately I don't know how to check or change that in Vista...

Use the Mr Driver link in my signature.
Let's see what other drivers you might be needing.
Let us know what the report says.

Good Luck...
