Question sli, crossfire or a gainward 7800gs 512meg agp?

when i started building my new computer, i noticed that my x800xl died on me and i basically couldn't be bothered to see if it really was broken seeing as its a freaking old card and there would be no point anyway.... i got a mobo with agp*8 and a pci-e*4. so my current best choice would ofcourse be an agp card (the gainward perhaps). but getting an sli or crossfire mobo would be best in the long rung, only i wont be using the pc after the summer as going away to boarding school and will probably get laptop....so i really cant decide as i have to get a job to get the sli or crossfire mobo and that will take 2 weeks at least to get a decent £50+ one...so any thoughts on my dialemma would be interesting, post away!

You can buy a PCIe x16 card and pop it into a PCIe x4 slot, might need to mod the slot a bit, but it'll run it, just at PCIe x4 speds instead of PCIe x16

Well, put it this way, PCIe x16 and x8 makes no difference on a 8800, so if you're running something slower then an 8800 (which you porlly will) then no, you most likely won't see that huge of a bottleneck, and better buy a PCIe card and then just swap it into your shiny new PCIe mobo, then buy an AGP card, and then buy another card for PCIe when you buy new mobo.
