Default probs with 8800 ultra

hi all
went and had a red haze and sold my crossfire settup 2 x x1950 512mb and did a turn coat and went to nvidia, been waitin sooo long for ati to blow em out of water...but no go...
but
got this hugely expensive evga 8800 ultra superclocked silent
and it works like a dream for a bit but then after 20 mins of play in stalker and most recently d &d stormreach it locks up..
ouch it hurts...
have just reinstalled drivers and removed ntune and it appears to be workin ok.
thing is i'm running it on a a8r32 mvp deluxe which is a ati crossfire mobo, could this cause issues?

Hey born, this may seem like a silly question, but are you sure it's not overheating?

These boards are *supposed* to accept NVidia cards even though they are optimized for ATI. Altough from personal experience I would normally recommend that is best to *try* and keep as many components and manufacturers the same when building a PC, as this does minimize the risk of such problems.
