Default New PC, nothing on the monitor

Hi there, I tried posting this on another PC forum and didn't get any hits. So, let's see if any of you guys (and gals) might be able to help me out. I just finished with my first homebuild ever. Here's the system:

Asus P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz Conroe CPU
Corsair XMS2 (2 GB) DDR2 RAM
Dual Western Digital 320 GB HDD (SATA)
Enermax Liberty 400W PSU
XFX GeFORCE 8600 GT XXX Video Card
Creative Labs Soundblaster X-Fi sound card
Lite On DVD drive
Dell 2007WPF 20" LCD Monitor

Upon the first power up, nothing showed up. Initially I didn't get any beeps either. I have checked everything 14,000 times and it appears to be connected correctly. I have tried removing and reinstalling both the vid card and the RAM a billion times. I have tried the VGA cord with the DVI adapter, I've also tried the DVI cord as well as the S-Video cord. After all that, it will now beep once on power up, then after a good 10 seconds, it will give a single beep again, then no more after that. Still nothing on the monitor. The monitor works just fine, I tried it with my lap top and it looks peachy.

As for the PC itself, all the fans (including the one on the video card) spool up when I power it up. The green LCD also lights on the mobo, so I assume that everything is getting power as it should. I plan to install WindowsXP Home once I can see something on the monitor.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, found the problem. There was a short somewhere between the mobo and the mobo tray. I still can not see where it was shorting, however. I found it by removing the mobo and setting it on a piece of cardboard then trying to start the computer. Sure enough, it booted up and ran a POST. Long story short, I placed a piece of card stock between the mobo and the standoffs/mobo tray. It has worked beautifully since. Simple fix for a VERY frustrating problem. Thanks for all you suggestions.
