I'm not too fussed about noise, that can be sorted with a different cooler.

I'm saving up for a new PC and I'm just not too sure I can justify dropping £200+ on an 8800 so that caused me to look at the 8600 and 7900.

Either that or i'll wait till the 8800 drops in price or grab a 7950GT OC, shopping sucks

I would go ATI but the linux drivers as it stands are guff.

I would go for the 8600 over the 7900 because of the future compatibility (dx10)

Good idea for a thread btw, even better if it was spelt correctly lol. I have sorted it for you

Yeah, there is the DX thing, but I honestly don't think it'll be powerful enough to run the major DX10 games that will come out at a decent level.

As it stands I'm not too fussed about DX10 until a great DX10 racing sim comes out then I might be but that will be a while.

The deciding factor for me was the fact it supported HDCP. I know it's on the 7950 and the 8800 but I'm not too sure about the 7900 other than the 7900GS

7900gs is a nice card, i would have got it if i could afford that little bit extra at the time. IT runs many games on high

Agree with the point about 8600.
