Default [Answered] Graphics card can't reach PCI slot?

I got a new graphics card from my dad, who bought it to replace some crappy card and later replaced it with a thermally better one. I want to install this in my computer build so there will be one less component to buy, but there's one problem: the PCI slot is too far forward on my motherboard for the card to fit. It isn't by a little, either. There's an inch or two that the card would need to protrude from the case in order to get to the slot. What's up with that? The old sound card fits...

Also, when trying to install this, I removed one of the expansion slot covers. Unfortunately, this case uses punchouts instead of screw-in blanks. Does anybody know where I can buy some cheap blanks to cover the hole that has resulted, and preferably a pack of 7 so I can punch out the others so it isn't all mismatched.

What is the make and model of the new graphics card?

It is most liekly that your on about a PCI-express graphics card which dont fit into PCI slots a pci-express slot looks like the black one in this image:

Most sound cards fit into a PCI slot rather than a PCI-express slot. Check if you have that slot, if not sure give me your motherboard make and model and i will find out.

Nope. I have a bunch of different PCI-e slots too and it fits in none of them. The card is very long and I have simply never seen a slot that far back on any motherboard.

Almost sound like an AGP card.

Here is the card:
eBay Express: NVIDIA GEFORCE MX440 VIDEO CARD 64MB AGP 8x DELL P162

It is AGP. Apparently it's only for Dell, too. I wonder where my dad bought it, or if he threw out the wrong card...

I guess there's no hope of using this thing...

I dont see why it cant work in your system then, unless you dont have an AGP slot. What is the make and model of your motherboard or take a picture of it for me
