Default high pitched noise...

Ok i have a rather puzzleing problem.

I have just bought a new monitor the Samsung LE23R71BX 23" widescreene monitor which will only run at 1360 x 768 :S withotu givign an error message :S.. but anyways this post is not about that.

Since i have got this monitor i have noticed that while playing games a high pitched noise is emmited from my case which i suspect is comming from the graphics card. When i alt tab out of the game back to windows the noise stops.

The noise only happens when i am playing the game... i.e not when loading, on menu screens..

But the odd part is it is not constant, sometimes i can come in go on my game play for hours no problems.. others i can come in turn pc on and go into game to have it allways.. But why is this? surly it would be constant.

All i do know is it iddnt happen before i had this monitor, and if i disconnect it the noise goes away. However i know the screen works coz i was working fine..

graphics card: x850 xt
power supply: 600w

and no its not a fan...

surgestions?

Have you installed the latest ATI drivers from here, this may or may not fix the noise problem. You should be getting a larger screen resolution than 1360 x 768, you should be around the 1680 x 1050 range.

All I can find searching for that monitors model number is a LCD television, and Samsung's website shows nothing for that model...

the noise may have something to do with the tower fan, depending on the placment and age of your PC, or the speaker disks in your new monitor may be warming up, and resinating against the case etc. Hope This Helped

Thanks would be appreciated...

oddly enough from yoru ati driver link it says current version 6.12? according to dxdiag i have 6.14 installed?! however will try it since it says it was only realased 2 weeks ago..

Its not a fan, fans will be doing it reguardless of which monitor is connected.

This monitor is a HD TV 3000:1 Contrast ratio and 8ms responce time, however if i run in any other resolution i get a "format not surported" message and black screen from the monitor.
