I'm looking to get a new graphics card for my older computer but I'm not sure whether it needs to be AGP or PCI. I'd also like to know which one would work best with my computer.
All help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Blackrush!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

I'm not quite sure if you've got an AGP or PCI-e on your mainboard.
It looks like you got on-board video. Can you open the case to check what kind of slots you see, perhaps making a photograph of it?

Blue

Looking at the spec, you only have 3 PCI slots and no AGP so it looks like you need to look for a PCI GFX board.

Thanks MrSkins, welcome to PC Helpforum too by the way!

This is what I was thinking too. AGP and PCI-express are the current graphical card slots.

PCI is a more universal slot, that is used for network cards, sound cards etc. too.
Make sure you get a PCI card, not PCI-express (PCI-e)

Thanks blue. So you're saying that a PCI card would be the one I need for my computer? Not an AGP? (If you still need me to look inside my case I kinda need to know what I'm looking for).

Thanks alot.

Yes very true, Jus t looking futher down his spec there is a suggested AGP

> AGP Bus : Yes
>> Bus Information
Number of AGP connectors : 1

Now I know some mainboards class onboard GFX as AGP so like suggested probably a good idae to take a snap shot on inside the PC.
I know eMachines build fairly budget PC so open her up and get snappin'

Cheers for the welcome Bluefish

As you look at the front of the PC take the left hand side panel off

Inside there is a large circuit board with 3x85mm long slots (usually white)

Just above these there should be another long slot being a different colour, that should be an AGP slot.

Have a look
