Default Graphics Card Fan Noise

Hi,

I have an nVidia 6600GT graphics card and lately, the fan on it has been really loud. I have my PC just under a year and everything has been fine. When I turn my PC on, the little fan makes a really loud noise, if I am lucky it will stop after five minutes but then after my PC being on for over 2 hours, it happens every 5 minutes.

I like to leave my PC on over night and this tiny little fan wakes me up. I opened my PC and vacumed the dust from inside it and even disconnected the video card so I could give it an extra clean, but when I turned on my PC, the noise was still there.

Please help.

Hi Vamp
as with all moving parts they are prone to fail, and the stock fan on the 6600 cards are no exception, have you over clocked the graphics card? Who makes your card?
Zalman do a very good range of fans and heatsinks.

No, I have never over clocked.

So my fan is busted in other words? I have had it less than a year! ****.

I don't know who makes my card, it's an XFX nVidia 6600GT if that's any help. It's amazing how much noise such a small fan is making...

Fans run constantly and hard when you are gaming... it's a mechanical thing. Things wear out--If you've only had it a year I would find the Manufacturer --and see if they'll cover it. XFX is the name of the company-- a division of Pine Technologies

You might need to find your original invoice-- if it came with your PC... contact the store / vendor where you bought it.
