Default [Fixed] Graphic card problem or...

Hi everyone, new in here and need some help.

Woke up this morning and my computer had freezed so I restarted it and everything went OK for a couple of minutes, then my monitor went black, like dead but the power led was still on, then I rebooted again but only the PC was working the monitor was still dead.
I did that a few more times till the monitor seamed to be alive again and I saw white letters popping up (great I thought) saying:
CLUB 3D GRAPHICS
Version 5.72.22.31.C2
Copyright (C) 1996-2005
NVIDIA Corp.
256.0MB RAM

and then it remained like that, tried to reboot a few times more but nothing,
Is my graphics card dead or what?

Greatful for any help.

hello nicodemuynck and welcome to pchf

it sounds like it's either your graphic card or your monitor

do you have another monitor that you could use on your pc to make sure that it is not the monitor that is dead

Unfortunately, it's most likely to be the video card

Can you remove the video card out of the computer and find a soft tipped eraser, and rub the connectors on the video card? re-insert the video card and give it a test.

I think its proboly the monitor, especially of its a CRT monitor, since those can do those kinda things. (mines does weird stuff somtimes, ill pres the power button to turn it off, and the screen settings thing pops up, lol)

If you have a LCD however, its most likely the card

As I mentioned before I was going to take one from work thats not beeing used but I can´t find the cables for it and the ones on mine (one of them) is built in so I can´t use it.
It is actually a CRT... koolj
I´ll try that GaRHaR, but the graphic card is only 6 months so it shouldn´t happen, let´s see.
