Default [Resolved] Video problem on FX5200

My System:

1GHz AMD Athalon (never overclocked)
unknown MOBO - no EECid
512Mb PC133 SDRAM
nVidia GeForce FX5200 128mb (XFX model)
1280x1024 @75Hz 17" Flat panel
40GB Master - 40GB Slave (5gb page file)
5.1 Soundcard & Harman/kardon speakers/sub
350W psu 120mm front fan 80mm rear fan

Problem: Video playback in all formats appears over saturated, too bright and generally buggered up.

Tried so far: Its not the monitor, tried it with my laptop - playback fine.
(I'm thinknig GFX card at this point) I started off with XP pro 2002 so i installed service packs, Updated to Windows Media Player 11, updated my GFX drivers, did every single windows update. downloaded some new codecs.
Card is brand new - PC was rebuilt with new bits (GFX card, WiFi, sound card HDD's etc last week)

any thoughts, help or advice?
