Hengis is right...
OpenGL stands for Open Glide...which was a...driver...of sorts. It ran along side todays more modern Direct 3D.
However, OpenGL was unofficially discontinued when 3DFX was bought out by nVidia. Infact, the last game that everyone will know of that uses this method of graphics rendering, is Counter-Strike (pre-steam).
nVidia never officially supported any OpenGL games...such as Quake1...there was a mode for quake called GLQuake, which utilised the 3d cards to their full extent, but many people with Geforce2's (which is where nvidia really started to push into the gaming market) couldn't play it without a certain patch, or .DLL file in the game directory.
Why was i rambling? I don't know...it was pointless..*shrug*...how'd the drivers go?
