Exclamation [Fixed] VGA Driver Gone Awol MAJOR PROBLEM!!!!

Recently lent a new pc game off my make. Installed it, but also needed to install ATI Catalyst, to make it function correctly. I installed ATI, but still couldnt get the game to work.

I gave up on the game and so uninstalled the ATI Catalyst.

Now my problem is that since I uninstalled ATI, when scrolling up or down, or moving dialog boxes around the screen, it has suddenly become very jittery, whereas it used to be smooth. I have had the problem before but only when running lots of high memory programs simletaniously (FM2006, PhotoshopCS2, Dreamweaver). But once i close one or two of these programms its goes and returns to normal.

My computer said something about a VGA driver, and when i checked in the system tools there doesnt seem to be a driver there. So i returned to the ATI website and downloaded there VGA driver for RADEON 7000 which is what i run. This however has come to no avail, and the problem is seriously DOING MY HEAD IN!!!!

I also tried a system restore, but that didnt work either.

Any ideas on how i can return to normality?

cheers

Welcome to PCHF.

What percentage is your CPU running at in idle? Right click on the task bar and select Task Manager --> Performance tab.

well...the bar which tells the CPU usage hovers between about 10%-50%, does that means 90%-50% of my CPU is running idle?! :S

Another thing i have noticed is when you go to turn off the machine only the 'Shut Down' button and 'Restart' button are accesible the 'Stand By' can no longer be clicked. I dont know if this is relevent, but has happened since the problem.

In Task Manager can you go to the processes tab and click the top to sort in high to low processing %. What programs are using the most CPU cycles?

No that's fine..it seems ok. Can you run the Pre-Work (link below in my signature) and post back the logs when finished.
