Okay my friend is running an msi laptop with a amd 1.7ghz processor, 512mb of ram at 400mhz, 40 gb hard drive, and what is a pci-e radeon x600 256mb.

I on the other hand am running a 2.6ghz pentium 4 no hyperthreading, 160gb seagate and 40gb hard drives, with 512mb of ram running at 266mhz, and a pci fx5200 128mb.

Well i believed my pc was well shocking compared to his but I don't get why mine can out preform his when its only a stock HP and his is all built to support itself.

The reason being is that the laptop is has a 5400rpm hard drive, the x600 is a mobillity range ati video card, and as such - is extremely low end. the fact that it has 256mb ram means nothing


and also it's going to be an amd turion, if not a sempron / duron. Turion = mobile, sempron / duron = budget.

Laptops are always going to be slower then the same spec'd (or lower spec'd) pc. Rule of thumb.
