Exclamation [Fixed] GeForce MX 4000 driver problems.

Okay, heres the story........Im fixing my friends pc. He told me to just go ahead and change the motherboard because I found his PC not booting because the BIOS was screwed up, and also to format his harddrive. No problem with either of those or installing a fresh copy of XP. On the motherboard I put in, it had some kind of ****py integrated video card but I also put in a GeForce MX 4000 that was previously in his old motherboard. On startup, it recognized the GeForce Video card and the monitor only worked attached to that and it was set automatically as the main video card in the BIOS. But of course, since the driver was not installed, changing the resolution had no effect. So I went to nVidia wesite and downloaded the driver for the MX 4000 and it seemed to install perfectly. At the end of the installation it said it was going to perform a video test and the screen went black forever. I had to shut off the PC and reboot it only for it to go to the Windows XP loading screen, then go black again. I eventually figured out that it wasnt stopping at that point, it was reverting back to to motherboard video card and the monitor would only work plugged into there. I checked in the BIOS and made sure it was set to the MX 4000 and surely it was but once it got past the Windows loading screen it would revert back to the motherboard card. I even went into the PC on the integrated card and installed the MX 4000 again and went to manage the card and it said it was working fine. Still no cigar. If you could help me, thank you. If not im sure ill figure it out eventually on my own, its probably a stupid mistake. Thank you once again.

Hi Ksince!

So you're able to boot up using the on-board card?

Once you're in the computer, could you try to remove the MX4000 via Right-clicking 'My Computer' -> Properties -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager?

Then restart the PC.
Windows should now reinstall the drivers.

Yea, thank you.....actually while i was doing what you said, it occurred to me that i had the other video card enabled too and i guess since it was on the motherboard, it automatically wa the default. All I had to do was disable the motherboard one and enable the MX4000, reboot, and viola! Thanks.
