Default [Answered] ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series

I was wondering. what kind of card is this? (i.e 64mb > 128mb > 256mb etc) and if it is indeed higher than 64mb then why doe it hiave problmes running games like Quake 4? When i try to play Q4 with it a click on play the screen goes black (like it would when i game is about the start and the company name.title is about to be shown on the screen) for a split second then returns to the desktop. However I heard reviwes of this chipset running Doom 3 well and Im sure q4 isnt THAT MUCH graphically superior to Domm 3. Also i notice in display the highers i can set my colors too is 32bit what ever happened to 256 colors or true color? I though any computer made in the last 3 years (probably longer) already comes stock with a card that can give you 256 or true color?

Looks like the lowest of that series that is supported is the X300 im afraid.
But dont worry about the 32 bit colors , that is better then 256 or true color.

ok as you probably already know im gettin an X800XL is that better than the following:

ATI® Radeon® 9700
ATI® Radeon® 9800
ATI® Radeon® X850

Im sure the x850 would be better than x800 but maybe the xl makes a differnce?

I would say the XL is best of those , and good enough for sure to play Quake 4.

so spec wise x800xl is better than:

ATI? Radeon? 9700
ATI? Radeon? 9800
ATI? Radeon? X850

I always though the ones with the highest number in this case the 9800 is better than all the ATI cards i listed? lol

Well , you are partially correct in that. Normally the higher the number the better , but the X*** series is a newer generation of cards then the the 9*** series.

ok so why is X800XL better than X850? oh and by the way i just got that card in the mail.. heh took me 10 mions to figur eout how to take it out of teh pci - x slot as i just couldnt pull it out like any normal card.. i had to push up or down on something before it would slide out... But speaking of which theres a white slow near the cards fan that im guessing where something from the power supply would go but i dont have anything like that comming from my powe rsupply (i go have a few things liek that in the tower however like the builts in tpower usb posta have a cord going from teh USB that plug into teh motherboard that match the fitting for the spot on teh fan... Its real small and has 4 prongs.. any idea where i can get something like that... there should be a pic of teh card with the lin kyougave me that shows exactly what it looks like.

Im guessing its a 12V graphics card power connector. That i need also in teh last thread you said i had several PCI - X slots but from what i noticed i only have 1 as there was only one of teh 4 slots that the card would fit into.
