Default Need help switching to digital

Well, earlier a friend of mine was over and made a discovery that I wasn't aware of, I have a digital connection on my graphics card, digital connection on my monitor and a digital cable to connect the two... but I'm still using analog. Well I immediatley changed it out and now have it digitally connected, I can see the picture and have changed the monitor input so it now says digital, however I don't see a difference. Do I need to do anything else with my graphics card or graphics card settings to switch it to digital output?

My monitor is a 17" Dell Ultrasharp flat panel.
My graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce FX 5700LE.

Thanks.

What were you expecting to see? There will be a difference but usually it won't be really obvious. I have 2 flat panel monitors (1 VGA and 1 DVI) the only time I really notice any difference is in games (less blurring).

Oh ok. Well I didn't see any difference so I was just wondering. Thanks.
