Question [Answered] Question about my desktop.

Hi everyone, Im new to PChelpforum.com, thanks in advance to those who reply.

I recently bought an HP desktop, model A1020N.
And recently I've been curious about the details of my system, parts, model#'s, etc.
I ran PCWizard and PCMark05 on my desktop, and it shows that I have a PCI-Express slot availible. The weird thing is, my desktop specs sheet does not say that I have PCI-E.
Can anyone here confirm if theres something Im getting wrong?
And also, if I were to open up my case, can I tell the difference between PCI/PCI-E slots visually?

Thanks in advance again.
D~

Hi there - welcome to PC Help Forum.com

Hmmm...this is what I found about your PC:

Screen, Graphics and Sound
The integrated Intel Extreme Graphics video/graphics card (with 64 MB of shared video memory) is adequate for streaming Internet video, but won't be enough for today's demanding immersive 3D games. It also features an integrated audio card and headphone, microphone, and line-in jacks.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The a1020n has three PCI expansion slots (two available), two external 5.25-inch drive bays (occupied), one internal 3.5-inch drive bay (occupied), two external 3.5-inch drive bay (one available), and the following external ports:
  • 7 USB 2.0 ports (4 in rear, 3 in front) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • 2 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link; 1 front and 1 back) ports for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
  • 2 PS/2 ports for connecting keyboards and mice
  • 1 parallel port
  • 1 serial port
  • Line-in, line-out, headphone, and microphone connections
  • 1 VGA monitor port
  • 9-in-1 media card reader on the front, compatible with CompactFlash (Type I and II), MicroDrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital, and XD Picture Card

So, will I be able to see if there is a PCI-E slot inside my computer?
Because both the programs I used stated that I have one slot availible.
Thanks.

Hi gtboi604,

My welcome as well. Yes you will be able to see which slots are available. They will be empty. The specs Hengis has given you are the factory standards, according to the make and model you gave us.

Before you begin opening your computer case, it sounds as if you should be a little more familiar with what you are dealing with. Can you please download and run Belarc Advisor from my signature, then post back the information here.

LGW

The first half (just about) is the hardware info , if you post that we'll have a look at it.
