Smile [Fixed] No Video support when both monitors are enabled.

Hi there,
I was wondering if you could help me with a little problem I am having with a new graphics card I recently purchased :-)

Here is the story so far; I had been running two 17? monitors both DVI connections (Windows XP SP2) on an ?AGP8X Chaintech GeForce FX5700 256Mb? for some time until an unexpected power cut managed to break the fan on the graphics cards heat skin (somehow). I tried replacing the heatsink on graphics card to no avail, the card was fried.

The next day I went out to my local computer store and brought a ?AGP8X PNY GeForce 6 (6200) 256Mb? graphics card. The card went in fine, booted up fine, installed fine and works fine. That is until it comes to play videos; no matter what the format/player when I have both monitors enabled in windows properties the video?s fail to play, often Windows freezes up and consumes 100% of the CPU (no matter the player). However if I disable one monitor in windows properties the video plays smooth and without interruption. I have tried reinstalling drivers with no luck.

I hope some one can help, you have a well set up forum and even if you can?t help me with this issue I wish you the best of luck :-)

PS: Sorry for making you read through all that)
PPS: Just some more system info:

Operating System: Windows XP SP 2
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ running at 1.16 GHz
Memory: 1.00 GB

Many Thanks,
Mat

Just an update.

It seems videos won't even play on one monitor now

Thanks,
Mat

Welcome to PCHF Nutz

Let's try something first...

Have you ever used this software? Nvidia N-View Multi Monitor

Hi Hengis,

I installed N-View Multi Monitor App but this did not help when playing videos.
I have tried reinstalling most of my players and reinstalling codec’s with no luck.
I also tried running a game "Dawn Of War" which ran fine not slow at all, how odd is this?

Thanks Hengis.
Mat

Sure is strange Mat, let's think what we're looking at here...I have to say that it's got to be related to one of two things.

1) The drivers need to be changed - see here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start...id%3D10&e=9878 (try a number of different ones and use the tool to completely remove your existing drivers first)

2) The card is damaged..but try 1) before you consider this.

10 out of 10 Hengis

That did the job.
Thank you very much.

Thanks,
Mat
