Default [Anwsered] ram problem?

most games i play haf a minimum requirement of 256 ram and im pretty sure i have a 256 ram card. but when i went to my system to check and make sure, it said i had 248 ram. is there some reason i dont haf the full 256 ram? can somebody plz help? i would appreciate it a lot. ty

btw im thinking about buyin a 512 card so can does anybody know where i can get a cheap card for a compaq presario? ty

edit: after lookin at the belar advisor summary, it said under memory modules:

248 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'J5G3' has 256 MB
Slot 'J5G2' is Empty

why are only 248 mb installed?

Without your full system specs I can only guess on this but I would think that you have onboard graphics and that is what is taking 8mb of your RAM

Post the Belarc advisor log as a text file attachment here in this post and I will be able to look at your motherboard specs.

Looks to me like an on-board Intel graphics driver, what you could do is plug in a video card, so that you don't need any RAM for you onboard video, or simply plug in a few more RAM.
