Default [Answered] Abit Radeon R9600xt

please help :-(

Four weeks ago I bought two of your products to complete my computer. These two components are a A17 guru motherboard and Radeon 9600 XT. These were both purchased on the Internet, off a site call Ebuyer.com.

I had a friend make the computer for me, as he has made many for me before. The computer parts were chosen for gaming, however I have encountered many problems.

When I received the final product I found that windows worked very well, it is only after installing a couple of games that i noticed after 10mins or less that the pc would lock up and freeze. I thought this must be a driver problem and downloaded the latest Catalysts.

Now the games, most of the time, run well and do not freeze, however i am still having graphical problems. The three game I am playing are Doom 3, Call Of Duty and Return to Castle Wolfenstien. When I play all of these games i notice little or big errors, for example:

Doom 3: I played the game two days ago and the level produced a pixaly gray wall in front of me, that I could walk through, and beyond this was nothing. Also the torch has these strange little dots on the beam.

Call Of Duty: On the training mission there are very bright blue and purple dots collecting in the sky. There have been other errors like, people faces have pixels appearing on them, red square appearing where an explosion has occurred. The biggest error was that the cross hair on the gun warped on the screen.

Hmmm...sounds like your graphics card might be out of place...
Either that or you just need a new video card :-).
Check this out, this might help:

Hi there HaRdLoCk , welcome to PCHF.

It sounds to me that either youre pc is overheating or youre powersupply isn't strong enough anymore after those upgrades.

Have a look with this app to see if heat is a prob, and to monitor youre psu's voltages:

MBM 5

Also may sound like that 9600xt is trying to hard. It can play doom3 but at all low settings unless it is overclocked. The strange little dot's are telling you to turn down the resolution. Letting you know your card cant take it. Can also download this program and while playing games crank the fans up

Edit: Download these drivers and install em. There made to tweak the cards to thier full potential.
http://www.omegadrivers.net/ Just make sure you download the ATI drivers and the right Platform, ie XP ..
And unistall the drivers you have right now first b4 installing the omega drivers

Did you say low graphics on doom 3, the only reason i bought the card was so i could run it in highish graphics.

This is quite strange, as it doesn't matter if doom three is in low or ultra mode, it still does these probs.
However it is strange that it has no lag what so ever in ultra in 1024*768.

Also i would of thought call of duty would run fine, hey i know people who are running this game in full graphics on a Radeon 9250 with 128mb.

By the way it is not overclocked, (well as far as i know)

Full stats of my PC

Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz HT Prescott 800mhz fsb, running at 3060mhz
1024mb DDR kingston ram
Abit a17 guru mobo
Abit radeon 9600xt
Maxtor 80gig HD
dynamode 56k modem
LG dvd rom drive
DVD righter (do not know manufacture, was sold as OEM)
4x 80mm case fans, two exstracting air at back with psu, side and frount sucking in air blowing over motherboard and hard drives.

My power supply is 500watts from magna or something like that, (not quite sure or the manufacture).

If the card is not powerfull enough, how come all the games, including half life 2 reccomend highest graphics as default. ?!??!!!?

If you think those pics are good here are a selection of my best form all of my games, before it starts making these strange errors.
