Default [Answered] onboard video question

ok im interested in getting a new video card for my comp. Unfortunately im stuck with PCI seeing as I lack an AGP slot. I was looking through my BIOS to see how I would disable the integrated graphics and I saw an option that said primary graphics controller and the options were "Auto" and "Onboard".

Does this mean that if I have it on the auto setting and install the PCI card I'll be good to go?

Also how would I go about installing this new card? I was thinking...

1.)While in Safe Mode get rid of all drivers for integrated graphics and go back to the default VGA driver.
2.)Shut down and install the new card, plug the monitor into the video card.
3.)Start Windows and install drivers.

what do you think? :-)

That sounds fine. Its very easy to do. All the directions for your certain card will be in the manual, just follow the step-by-step instructions, and nothing can go wrong. After you install the drivers from the disk that it comes with, i recomend updating the drivers. www.ati.com for ati cards, and www.nvidia.com for nvidia drivers. Good Luck. And if your thinking of buying a card online, try www.newegg.com. Great Deals.
