thanks folks, but i've finally given up on XP!

turns out i had all kinds of nasty viruses (9 in total), none of which were picked up by norton internet security 2005. trend micro's scan found them all. i started trying to get rid of them but required spare, non infected pcs and all kinds. so i deleted the whole partition to be on the safe side and have gone back to 2000 for my sins.

i've still got that resolution problem however, will continue to tinker, but any suggestions would be appreciated!

cheers

Hi

My Belarc info is pretty much as above. I've run again now that i've moved back to 2000. Guess this is the wrong section now - sorry folks!

I've tried in all the settings but just doesn't look right. Images, though they dont look pixelated, just look a bit block round the outsides. Text doesn't look as smooth as it did, and printing it just makes it look worse.

Again, any help appreciated

Cheers

Right you are running a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440.

What resolution is your screen set to e.g 800 by 600 or 640 by 480 ?

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from the Nvidia website.

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

It might also be worth checking to see what refresh rate Windows has automatically setup for the monitor. Try it on either 60 or 75Hertz
