Default adobe reader disappears

Hi
I can't seem to open up a .pdf anymore. I remember okaying an update for adobe, so I guess I'd just have to restore the older version? Anyways, I click on a .pdf and it asks me what program to use to open it. Reader doesn't appear. I used adobe bridge so I could look at the file and now it opens automatically. I downloaded reader again, and while installing my comp said there is already a better version on my computer, but doesn't show up anywhere when I look for it.....
Any ideas???

Hello buddha!

Taking out the version of Adobe you have can help... remove from addd/remove programs in your Control Panel... dump all instances of it, including the installer you may have saved.

Run CCleaner from the link in my signature below, then go back and download Adobe from here.. just be sure to check the version that you are pulling down.

Hope this helps some

Please let us know how this goes, hm?

If you have problems with Adobe Reader, try Foxit Reader instead.

Not only is it a freebie, but it's bloat free as well.

Foxit Software - Foxit Reader 3.0 for Windows

One thing to do on the installation, is to remember to untick the Ask toolbar options...

HI! That totally resolved the issue, thank you. I have another slightly annoying problem, and I'm not sure if it goes under this heading or not, but the on screen key board on vista right after start up keeps coming up and I have to close it every single time I start my computer. It's getting on my nerves. I've made sure it's unchecked, I've checked and unchecked and applied that, but the stupid thing keeps coming up!

Hello,

I've not sure if you have already done this, bear with me.

Press the Win + U keys together to launch the Ease of Access Center.

Then click on "Use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard" (most probably the 3rd option in the list).

Then on next page uncheck the box which says "Use On-Screen Keyboard".

Click Save button and see if this works.
