No, he did not re-install it, as all my programmes, etc are still here.

I just thought he gave it a good "clean-up" but how he did it, I do not know.

The original one is at our Company head office in Cape Town. They never want to send the software, so it would have meant sending the PC to CT, 1000 miles from here, wait...

Here is the message that has just been posted:

Ok I suggest you obtain Service Pack 3 for XP.

Can I ask what happened to the original XP disk?
Your message is gone. I do not use pirated software and as I explained above

Saw your message just now. Just easier to do it up here, for USD40 than to wait when he is at the office..

avz10

I removed my post because you updated yours.

I suggested obtaining SP3 as a natural update and a security measure.

Who has mentioned Piracy at any stage?

Thanks for your help. I tried to install SP3 previously, but there was some sort of a problem- made a note of it and post it.

Sorry, I misinterpreted this question:
Can I ask what happened to the original XP disk?
, because the answer would have had no relevance to the topic.

Well the answer is quite obvious to me avz10 and that is, or it should be, that you have XP running under a VLK agreement, that is if this computer is a company machine.

It should not be down to you to purchase or obtain software that defragmentates your system or registry cleansers of any kind.

This task is down to your systems administrators and upgrades could be done over a network to the company.

I suggest you contact them with regard to your dilemma.

Thanks for that

I just thought that if I had good software, I could use it for the other PC in the house.

But I will try and install SP3 again

Thanks for your prompt advice!!
