I'm trying to install Kaspersky 2010 but I have an incompatible program. The problem is that I thought I had removed Ad-Aware 2007 a long time ago.

Apparently the uninstall completely emptied the Lavasoft and Aaw folders and removed them from the Start Menu. BUT the program still is in the Add/Remove list and if I try to uninstall it again the following message appears:


I have since deleted the Lavasoft folders and all icons and rebooted, attempting to manually uninstall it. Nothing. The Aaw service is also still there but not running. I checked regedit and there are two folders there, Ad-Aware and Ad-Aware 2007, but as I've never messed with the registry before I decided to leave it alone.

So anyone have any idea what else I can do?

Should there be no Ad-Aware un-installer in the Ad-Aware program group (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\Uninstall Ad-Aware 2007) or any listing in the usual Add/Remove program list, please download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from here. In the list of programs detected by the WICU, locate any reference to Ad-Aware and select it, then click on "Remove".

Finally, navigate to firstly C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\ and then to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\ and delete any remaining files/folders.

If this fail re install it and it should detect the old version and remove it and then once installed you should be able to use add remove to get rid of the new version

I had to go out for a while but then I came back and tried what you said and it worked! There weren't any folders to delete and Kaspersky installed fine. Thanks Samuria!
