| General Software - cd drive not appearing posted in the Software forums; recently i sent my pc to the store to change the corrupted cd/dvd drive... but when i got home it didnt work i just insert cd and i cant open ... |

cd drive not appearing
recently i sent my pc to the store to change the corrupted cd/dvd drive... but when i got home it didnt work i just insert cd and i cant open it from any where , can any one help me i need to use a project cd and i cant go to the pc store atm . please help . thanks |

First of all restart the PC and press F2/Del to enter BIOS. Or press both at the same time to be sure.
Use the arrow keys and Enter to navigate the BIOS. Once in BIOS go to Boot Device Priority and press the +/- keys. Your CD/DVD drive should be listed there. If it isn't then you will need to open up the PC and check that the data cable is connected correctly. Its possible that whoever 'fixed' your PC has connected the cable backwards or perhaps not connected it at all. |

I suggest you contact the computer repair shop, and tell them the cdr / dvd combo is not working and you want it fixed as that's the reason you took it to them to fix in the first place.
There's no excuses for shoddy work...
