Default Microsoft Utility Clean Up

Hey I have a Compaq Presario V2000 and am having a problem with all programs. Recently I purchased a 500gb external and wanted to install the WD Smartware software to use when backing up files. The software would not install properly and through many trials and tribulations I called WD for help. The tech support suggested installing microsoft windows utility clean up and removing installers. He wasnt specific about which installers to remove so I selected all the installers that were presented on the list. Once the utility cleaned up the installers I restarted my computer and now I am having several issues such as using Itunes, Microsoft office and other main software programs. I tried doing a system restore several times and it was unsuccessful at restoring. Another instance is when I try opening up a recent word document from my desktop using microsoft office 2003 word I open the program up and it says I have issues with the macros....It suggests several things on fixing the macros and after doing the suggestions still nothing works.....Any suggestions? Thanks!

If it will make you feel any better, I'm in an email ping pong match (back and forth) with MicroSloth right now because the .Net Framework updates for October failed on one of my computers. No problems with the other two. Weird.........

They send a fix, I try it, it fails, I report it, they send another. I can do Screenshots in my sleep because they want a visual for every failure. I've removed all the .Net files at their direction and now none of them will install. It's been 2 days since they have re-re-re-responded to me.

Assuming XP my first thought is to go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Reinstall XP SP3.

-----------------------------------
If no success then go:

Start - Run - (type) sfc /scannow (with the space)(Enter)

sfc = System File Checker restores files to their correct state.

This may require you to put in your XP CD.
