I've used Firefox for years and found it to be a great web browser, that changed with V.5. Among other things I can't download anything unless I disable ZoneAlarm ForceField which rather defeats the object.
The most annoying problem I have is with Bookmarks. At one point they disappered but I got them back by following instractions in Firefox Help.
Now, although I have them back and can access them I cannot create new ones. I've spent hours researching on their Help site and followed the instructions on resolving the problem but without success. I've checked my Add-ons and they don't seem to be the cause.
Has anyone come across this problem and found how to overcome it?
I shoud mention that I am using V5.2

Try this, go to bookmarks and click on organize bookmarks and then on import and back up and then export (not export to html). Save that file somewhere and then close firefox. Reopen it and then go back and instead of exporting the bookmarks click on import and import the same file you just saved. It should then overwrite the old bookmark file with a new one and allow you to add new ones.
If that fails, uninstall firefox, go to c:\programs files\mozilla firefox and delete that folder if it's still there and then reinstall the latest version and import that same bookmark file in to your bookmarks. |

Thanks for you replies Arctos, samuria and Xeno1.
I decided to install the latest version before doing anything else and it appears to have solved the problem. Fingers crossed that it doesn't recur, if it does I will be back.
