Default Film Problem

Hey,I have a very annoying problem and I would be very grateful if you could help me. The problem is very simple really-when I watch a film, in a short while both the audio and video start lagging awfully, and mean really!
I use a brand new HP laptop, Intel Core 2 DUO processor, ATI Radeon HD 4330 graphics card and I have 4GB RAM. I'm almost sure the problem is in the software. I have the newest K-Lite Codec Pack and tried pretty much every player out there. Oh yeah,my OS is Windows Vista Buisness, which might be the problem.... Anyway, please help!

Thanks in advance!

You did not mention if you have tried the free Media Player Classic, I use this and never had any problems playing videos with it...

How are you playing the video from HD, DVD, web? What format is it in ie AVI mpg?
Are you running a 64 bit O/S as 4 gig of ram on a 32 bit can cause problems as a 32 bit O/S cant see it all and it effects video ram as its in the same address space. Could you remove any ram and try it with less in?

You could try disconnecting from the net and disable AV as sometimes this can scan the files and cause the problems

You see,the weird thing is, I've only encountered the problem with Xvid formats(thats the only thing I've tried, besides clips in the net). I haven't tried turning of my AV tough. I will try.
