I'm running Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning Release 9.0.554 on an older Dell. The Audio Capture function works fine there. It sees the sound card (Intel Integrated Audio) and puts it in the Capture From box. In the Input box, the dropdown menu lists all of the input types (microphone, phone line, stereo mix, etc.).

I installed this same release on the new Dell Inspiron. The Audio Capture function see the soundcard in the Capture From box (Realtek HD Audio Input) but the Input box which should list the input types is blank. There is nothing there and no dropdown menu. Consequently, when I tell it to "record" it creates an audio file of the filetype I chose (e.g. mp3) but there is nothing in it as the Input box was blank.

Anyone have a suggestion as to why the Input box is blank and what to do about it?

[Could it be that this sound card, though it recognizes it to put it in the Audio Capture box, is not "supported" because its newer than this software?]

Hello user101,did you check with Roxio,to see if you needed to update your software for the new Dell?

It's an old release that is no longer supported. I was hoping someone else had seen the same problem and had a way to make this old release (9.554) work.

It's far easier to install a modern up to date burner app like ImgBurn, than sort out a out of date app...

Thanks Arctos. It looks like a nice piece of software. Only problem is that it doesn't have the only feature in this Roxio that is failing: audio capture.

This is because they are not full of bloatware, like Roxio and Nero contain.

There are several free audio rippers, such as AudioGrabber and EAC, that will do a far better job than the burning software will do...
