Default IFO file reading & WIN & other converters

I have a 3 set disc set from Acme Educational (Vincent Versace - Black & White conversion using Photoshop). Here is the issue: No program on my Dell Inspiron 9300 will play/recognize the "IFO" files. They will play on my wife's Comgaq Presario because she has an older WIN Player.

Question 1: Is there a way to get an "IFO" file formate to work on either Windows Media Player 11 or QuickTime Pro?

Question 2: Is there a way to copy my wife's older WIN Player program file over to mine & have it work? I think this would be ethical since I'm not provided the program to another person? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Question 3: Which converter(s) would you recommend? I know of two - AVS & WINx Player, both around $50.

Question 4: Is there a decent free converter?

Look forward to the responses.

Much Thanks!

The ifo file is only part of the files structure of a dvd, as it points to the relevant vob file on the disk.

Media Player Classic will play dvd's out of the box without buying anything else.

Download Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1

The DVDs will play in your home DVD player. Except for DVD 3 which is a high resolution Quicktime. Drag that to your hard drive and make sure you have the latest version of the quicktime player

Vincent!

Thanks for the reply. Didn't know for sure if the QT chapters were exactly as the DVD ones. Thought they would be, but wanted to verify.

I do have QT pro and Disk 3 plays just fine (-:

Enjoying the B&W conversation!!
