Hi,
I'm suddenly having crashing/shut down issues with Firefox/AVG.
Started initially when I upgraded to FF 3.5.0, and didn't improve with the upgrades thereafter. Seemed to coincide with AVG showing me messages that part of it needed to close (although it always completed it's scan in the mornings). Then suddenly the problems seemed to get better and it didn't crash so much at all, then Friday it started again.
Firefox (version 3.5.3) when it crashes shows me the message about sending a report to FF (which is a waste of time as they have never got in touch with me about any of my problems). I then attempt to restart with my previous tabs open, and normally it will either crash straight-away or wait until the tabs have loaded up and then crash. Pretty much the only way it will run ok is if I start a new session (and even that is no guarantee).
AVG (version 8.5.421) issues seem to coincide with the FF issues, but not all the time. Eg. this morning and yesterday morning there has been a message for me saying that AVG has neeeded to close (although it completed it's scan) but this was not always the case - but more often than not is.
The only issues I had with the scan this morning were the following warnings:-
"C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab:\nv4_disp.dll";"The file could not be scanned probably due to an invalid file structure (address 3125).";"Object is white-listed (critical/system file that should not be removed)"
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Backup\ACS\Rollback\Suite\comps\ocpinst. exe:\ns_00248";"The file could not be scanned probably due to an invalid file structure (address 4486).";"Object is white-listed (critical/system file that should not be removed)"
I also tried to run Spybot S+D yesterday but it made my PC freeze the 3-4 times I tried (after a few minutes or so).
Also while attempting to write this message, FF has crashed maybe 4 times, so I have had to write/copy and paste initially to Wordpad (which also crashed) and then to an email so that I didn't have to write 60 TIMES!!!!
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.

I have found that uninstalling Firefox, and deleting the use profile folder here helps to sort out any corrupt addons:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\XXXXXXXX.default Then re-install Firefox and install only the most needed addons. The crash reports do not mean a lot to me, as it's basically for the bugfixers at Mozilla...

Yes it will, back them up by going to Bookmarks / Organize Bookmarks / Import and Backup / Export HTML
Save to the desktop or some other safe place for later, when you will import them from the same place...
