If it's just the firewall, take a note of the settings, reset the router to factory and re-input them.

It sounds like FTP could be blocked / getting blocked by the firewall.

Of course, with that said make sure ports 20 and 21 (I think) are open as well to make sure it isn't this.

Firewall settings could also be affected by software firewalls. Best to check those are set up right as well.

On the note of DNS, try to use the DNS of our router as primary, and the ISP's DNS as secondary. If you really have DNS issues that should at least help with the name resolution.

Must admit, your router isn't being very nice though!

If you an login to your Router, you should be able to assign DNS settings, hopfully a primary and secondary DNS server.

Those will be pre-defined by your ISP.

The ones on your machines on the other hand, are in Network connections. (Right click the Local Area Connection, click properties, highlight Internet Protocol and hit the properties button).

On that screen, don't touch IP address part.

Change the DNS. Change the primary to your Router's IP address, and secondary to the one defined by your ISP (Primary one in the router, if it lists more than one).

Hope that helps.
