Question Hp dv3510nr finger print reader problem

Sorry guys. im new in these things..

I had my hp pavilion dv3510nr for about 4months already..
The first time i tried the Finger print reader. it works perfect.
I thought finger print readers are for start up passwords only.
but i saw it on youtube, that you can you use it for website password logins as well..

this is the problem. how to use or activate my finger print reader to register in my log ins?

I've tried swiping it when the username and password are being asked. but nothing happens...

Please help.

After connecting the fingerprint reader to a computer register the fingerprints of any users, with an easy to use Registration Wizard.

When you visit a site which requires your password you touch the fingerprint reader and enter your password details.

The next time you go back to that site you can log on by just touching your fingerprint to the fingerprint reader. This can be used for any number of websites.

Hi
Following the latest trend from HP, the Maintenance and Service Guide is not published.

Admittedly, the have a point there, as replacing an expansion board on a Notebook is REALLY tricky, will Void your warranty, and potentially-and MOST LIKELY- damage your system.

I freely admit that I have yet to see that particular model, but from other models that I have seen with a replaceable Video Card, I have to say:

  • It is a complicated task.
  • You must remember exactly what you did to dis-assemble it, and be VERY careful during dis-assembly and re-assembly.
  • You run the risk of ESD damage.
  • You can very easily damage the fragile plastic parts.
  • You can damage the mainboard as you remove the Video Card and the -separate-heatsink.
  • Except if clearly stated, and ONLY if the very same model comes with more than one option of Video Cards, there is no sure way to know in advance that the new hardware will
  1. function properly.
  2. will not damage your system.
  3. or even function at all.
Those things said, I advice you to refrain from any similar modifications, and try to disable all Visual Effects in
System>Advance system settings>Performance>Adjust for best performance
in order to release resources wile playing a game, or buy a more powerful Notebook.

Wow. that's not good. hehe...

thank you very much for that info..that is very helpfull

So now. the video card is not an option...
How about the ram? it sez that it is still expandable to 8gb. i only have a 4gb ram.

Would changing the ram to 8gb make's alot of difference? in terms of performance in playing games?
Is it reasonable for changing the ram, for more or less i think its $400, just to get better gaming performance?
Would I really feel the performance imrpovement just like that?

I am not really into gaming before. but when i played this crysis game. i liked it. now i want it to play in my laptop. hehe..

Hello again

If your Operating System is not 64-bit, you won't be even able to use the extra 4GB, and frankly, I think the performance increase -if any- will be VERY small.

However , I see in the Product Specifications Page, that your Notebook comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7350.

Now, whatever follows bellow is pure speculation, but based on some facts:

The HP Pavilion dv4t Entertainment PC comes also with that CPU, but can be upgraded to
Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.80-GHz, 6-MB L2 cache) P/N 486727-001

This suggests the same CPU may be fitted into your system as well, BUT:

  • It is only suggestive, maybe it won't work.
  • It will void your warranty.
  • The CPU goes for about 350$, cheaper than 400$ for memory, but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for a burned out-of-warranty mainboard.
Why don't you buy the dv4 and get yourself a new and more powerful system?
